Improve and expand your skills as an Advanced Open Water Diver!

What to Expect?

The NAUI Advanced Open Water Diver course is an exhilarating next step for certified divers looking to enhance their skills and explore more complex underwater environments. Designed for those who have completed their Open Water certification, this course challenges you to dive deeper, navigate more precisely, and become a more capable and confident diver.

Throughout the course, you’ll participate in six specialty dives, including deep diving, underwater navigation, night diving, dive computer skills, drift diving, and boat diving. Each dive is designed to improve your technique, expand your comfort zone, and introduce new aspects of diving in both shore and open-water environments.

This course isn’t just about depth—it’s about developing mastery. You’ll refine your buoyancy, improve your situational awareness, and gain hands-on experience with advanced gear and dive planning. You'll also deepen your understanding of the physiological effects of diving and learn to minimize your environmental impact as a responsible, eco-conscious diver.

Led by experienced NAUI instructors, your training includes eLearning to cover key theory ahead of time, followed by a full weekend of immersive diving. Our Advanced Open Water courses are now offered in two stunning Florida locations:

  • Big Pine Key / Key West: Start with shore dives in Fort Zachary Taylor State Park (Navigation and Dive Computer), followed by a night charter to experience both twilight and night diving on the same reef site. The second day features boat dives on the iconic Vandenberg wreck, completing your Deep and Drift specialties.

  • Hudson Grotto & Tarpon Springs: Begin with four skill-focused dives at Hudson Grotto, including Deep, Navigation, Dive Computer, and Night. Then head offshore from Tarpon Springs to explore multiple barge wrecks, completing your Boat and Drift dives in the dynamic waters of the Gulf.

No matter which location you choose, you'll receive a high-quality training experience designed to prepare you for more challenging dives and specialty certifications in the future.

Upon completion, you'll earn your NAUI Advanced Open Water Diver certification—a credential that expands your dive opportunities around the world and demonstrates your readiness for deeper, more advanced adventures.
